Cute, fun and mostly nostaglic--I loved the original Preppy Handbook back in the day。

Jane Van

enjoyed it。 pretty funny, tongue in cheek。

Benni

Short read。 Not as funny as the first one。 Way more filler text。 Acknowledged the existence of both Black and queer people。

Jill

Yes, preppy, yes!I loved the classic values and sense of humor put forth in this book。 I want more navy and need another bird dog in my life!

Kimberly

Exactly what this closet preppy has been waiting for since The Preppy Handbook was published in the early '80s。 A fun read!! Have your gin and tonic ready!! This book was such nonsense but I loved it!

Well this wasn't for me。。。I guess if you want to learn more about "prep", I hear that this author's older handbook is a much better resource。 Well this wasn't for me。。。I guess if you want to learn more about "prep", I hear that this author's older handbook is a much better resource。 。。。more

Ugh I had such a hard time getting through this book and almost quit several times but I did find some enjoyable segments so I kept going。 I feel like there was no need for this ultra-niched book, and honestly how could it light a candle to the original Official Preppy Handbook, which was a work of art in its day? This book was definitely thorough but I think that’s where it went sour for me: TMI。 Way too much。

Vanessa

Can’t relate。 LOL Basically how “preppy” people see the world with lists of do’s and don’ts。 I will admit I love a good preppy outfit ,however I can confirm I do not live the preppy life。 Entertaining at the least, some interesting viewpoints but not necessarily a handbook I will reference。 PS yes, some parts are funny。

Kendra

Not really satirical this time

Lib DM

I know it’s tongue and cheek。 But it’s a painful read that became outdated when it got published。 Those lists are almost as painful as the photos。 Boring。

I almost not finish this book! There where painfully parts that could be left out of it and have being nada a new approach on the subject。 I never read the first one the similarities are lost。

Boring。 Needs updating。

Lydia

Funny, classic, hilariously-petty, and an accurate depiction of its subject。

A P

interesting, but dated; tries too hard to be funny; descriptive, not prescriptive

As a teen I was amused and delighted when I first read The Preppy Handbook。 I thought this would be more of the same- older, more fashion conscious, more alcohol focused (if thats possible) but the same old preppy culture。 I read this book in a day and was reminded how mind numbing an in depth look at the preppy world can be。 I blame the author for that。 Its written in a humorous tone but its still quite a vortex。 I'm sure most people would need a lobotomy to really enjoy the life and style LB d As a teen I was amused and delighted when I first read The Preppy Handbook。 I thought this would be more of the same- older, more fashion conscious, more alcohol focused (if thats possible) but the same old preppy culture。 I read this book in a day and was reminded how mind numbing an in depth look at the preppy world can be。 I blame the author for that。 Its written in a humorous tone but its still quite a vortex。 I'm sure most people would need a lobotomy to really enjoy the life and style LB describes and after reading this book, I felt as I had just binged on nothing。 Pure fluff。 I find the authors snobbery a bit perplexing at times (Gays and blacks okay but doctors and missionaries not acceptable? Really?) but its still an entertaining book and like the world of preppiness itself, excellent at being not excellent at all。 。。。more

Seriously disappointing。 Supposedly an 'update' of her first work, The Original Preppy Handbook (5 stars, satire, hilarious and witty), the author broke her own rule of 'prep doesn't need updating。' This one is forcedly PC and takes itself way too seriously。 The layout is poor, the trend is largely toward European fashion (which, don't get my wrong, I quite enjoy in context, but sections on Prada and Hermes, really? It's stretching it to even fit those into Ivy, much less into Prep。) Birnbach is Seriously disappointing。 Supposedly an 'update' of her first work, The Original Preppy Handbook (5 stars, satire, hilarious and witty), the author broke her own rule of 'prep doesn't need updating。' This one is forcedly PC and takes itself way too seriously。 The layout is poor, the trend is largely toward European fashion (which, don't get my wrong, I quite enjoy in context, but sections on Prada and Hermes, really? So funny! Coming from the land of prep, I really found this amusing。 Explains many different class behaviors in a snarky way。

I had recently read her first book, The Official Preppy Handbook, and was curious about how much had changed in the preppy world。 The revised book takes excerpts from her original book, perhaps to illustrate how little has changed。 I noted the addition of fleece to preppy wear。 I still don't know if white is now a preppy car color; I see a lot of white BMWs around and can't figure out if this is preppy or turning prep notions on its head。 I had recently read her first book, The Official Preppy Handbook, and was curious about how much had changed in the preppy world。 The revised book takes excerpts from her original book, perhaps to illustrate how little has changed。 I noted the addition of fleece to preppy wear。 I still don't know if white is now a preppy car color; I see a lot of white BMWs around and can't figure out if this is preppy or turning prep notions on its head。 。。。more

Not nearly as good as the 1980 original version, but a decent read nonetheless。

I put this in my DNF/abanonded shelf here on goodreads。 This is more like a handbook/manual on how to live a preppy lifestyle。 I enjoyed it at first because I thought it was satiracle but after awhile it gets old。 I would of loved this in middle school when I was super preppy but its defintiely not me anymore。 I reccomend this if you're into gossip girl and other "rich preppy-esque" books。 I put this in my DNF/abanonded shelf here on goodreads。 This is more like a handbook/manual on how to live a preppy lifestyle。 I enjoyed it at first because I thought it was satiracle but after awhile it gets old。 I would of loved this in middle school when I was super preppy but its defintiely not me anymore。 I reccomend this if you're into gossip girl and other "rich preppy-esque" books。 。。。more

Not as enjoyable as the original。 Was missing the self-deprecating, ironic, mocking tone that made The Official Preppy Handbook a classic。 This book was very much a downer。 There was a very, jaded, cynical tone throughout, and at times it read like the author had already spent her best years of life in prep school and college, and would have done anything to get those times and memories back。

Bill Connington

Good silly fun。

Inga

Funny because it's true。 Useful because it helps decode the mysteries, and leads to self-understanding。 Brings like-minded people together。 Really, a service to humanity。 Funny because it's true。 Useful because it helps decode the mysteries, and leads to self-understanding。 Brings like-minded people together。 Really, a service to humanity。 。。。more

Mildly entertaining at some points。 Great layout and graphic design, though。!

Aside from the reading list and the bios of prominent prepsters, I thought the book was meandering and snarky。
